Jhelum is one of the oldest districts of Punjab. It was established on 23 March 1849. The Geographical location of Jhelum is 32°56′ north latitudes and 73°44′ east longitude. The district of Jhelum stretches from the river Jhelum almost to the Indus. District Jehlum tehsils are Jhelum, Pind Dadan Khan, Dina, Sohawa. Government Poultry farm were established in Tehsil Dina of District Jehlem to provide poultry in the province.

- To develop indigenous chicken to improve its production characteristics
- To introduce exotic type of birds for the purpose of cross breeding
- To produce & distribute better productive birds in rural areas
- Demonstration of rearing / breeding practices for rural poultry promotion
- To conduct research trials on different aspects of poultry management in different climatic zones of Punjab
- To impart training on rural poultry production
